Hi Chrissy-
I'm hoping you can give me some expert advice. Emma started stuttering a couple weeks ago. It doesn't happen all the time, just when she is tired or excited. It is always at the beginning of a sentence. She is really starting to communicate solely with words now and is saying full length sentences. I am wondering if it is happening because her brain is going faster than she can speak. To be honest, it is freaking me out a little. What I've seen on-line seems to agree with my theory. I casually mentioned it to the Assistant Director at Emma's daycare and she immediately responded with "its the age", which made me feel better about it. I don't want to bring her to a doctor and make a big deal out of it if it isn't one.
Re: harvest-wed
It defintitely sounds like a developmental dysfluency rather than a true stutter. It tends to happen as kiddos go from single words to sentences like that. Does she repeat the first sound or the whole word? Does she grimace while she stutters? Does it seem to bother her at all? Good luck, I bet it is not a big deal at all! If you have any more Q's please ask!!
