Do you ever use SLS shampoo ---

If you feel you are too greasy or have product buildup?

I don't really feel l like I get product buildup with my current shampoos (Desert Essence - LOVE IT!), although I have with Burt's Bees volumizing..

However I was feeling super duper greasy the other day so for the first time in prob 6 months, I grabbed some Suave (which is very drying - did the trick).

I hate using the stuff but once in a while I feel like I need it.  Even though I use my Desert Essence Lemon Tea Tree shampoo religiously.

Re: Do you ever use SLS shampoo ---

  • No, but my hair tends to be dry. My hair has been SO much softer and easier to style since switching off SLS, I won't even let them use it on me in a salon! I also don't use any products in my hair so buildup isn't an issue! I wonder if there's a natural way to 'clarify' or a shampoo that's meant for that?

  • Nope.  My hair has been more shiny and supple than it's ever been, I won't use SLS shampoo again.  DH is also terribly allergic, I wouldn't want him to grab the wrong bottle.  He's not exactly observant in the morning. Stick out tongue

  • I've tried a bunch of the Aubrey Organics shampoos, and the Green Tea one is my favorite:

I have somewhat oily hair, and even though I don't use products in my hair, I need something clarifying.  This shampoo has been awesome, and I only have to wash my hair every other day.

  • I have super oily hair. If I take a shower at night, in the morning it already feels oily. I never felt the need to use SLS shampoos. When I wash my hair with my SLS free shampoo it removes all the oil. I just have to wash better and longer than with my old SLS shampoos. I have to concentrate on specific areas of my head versus when I used to just wash without really thinking about where the shampoo is going. I hope that makes sense! lol
  • Yes.  I have tried 2 different SLS salon brands (so not totally EF I'm sure).  If I use them more than 2 washes in a row, my hair looks greasy and feels gross so I rotate...2 washes SLS free, 1 not.  My shampoo has lasted months.  I don't use any other products on my hair either.
  • Yes. It doesn't bother me to use them sometimes..and I think I get a better cleanse.
  • Whenever my hair starts to feel greasy, I just mix some baking soda in with the shampoo I use, then I rinse with apple cidar vinager. I do this about twice a month, but I only shampoo everyother day. My hair has never been softer.
  • You can use apple cider vinegar as a hair clarifier.
