Looking for a great local bank or credit union.
I want to get all of our banking switched over to a local bank or CU, but there are so many and I need some help, so please share your experiences. My one requirement is a great online banking system with bill pay service for free.
TIA!

Re: Looking for a great local bank or credit union.
Of the half dozen or so we have accounts at my two favorites are OnPoint and First Tech.
We just shifted our main banking over from WF to OnPoint CCU. They've been fantastic to work with so far. We also have accounts with Unitus CU and Oregon Community CU. I haven't ever done all of my banking with a CU before so I can't really compare Unitus or Oregon Community CCU with OnPoint since it's most just savings and car loans I've had with the other two.
OnPoint does offer online bill pay but unless you have the checking with a minimum balance of $500 or something, it's $3.95/month. However, at the current postage rate, that's nine payments per month.

We're also with OnPoint. I like that we have our car loan through them as well as checking and savings. You can use any CU's ATM to get cash and for depositing checks as well. You can also use US Bank ATM's to deposit checks without a penalty.
However, for bill paying and saving money I use ING Direct which is an online bank. The bill pay is free and I have it linked to my OnPoint account. It takes about 3 business days to transfer from one to the other. But at ING I have 1.2% interest (was 4.5% when the economy was good) and I can create as many accounts as I want and name them differently to save up for different things. If you're interested in ING let me know and I can send you a referral. You could get $25 free if you set up a savings acct with $250.

I don't have any experience with OnPoint; however, I can't rave enough about Umpqua. Love the customer service.
I love ING Direct we have a checking and savings accounts with them, they're great. I cannot wait until the interest rate goes back up!
For day to day banking, we also love OnPoint.
