Boudoir pics-recommend your photographer

I am thinking of getting some b-pics for my DH for our 1st anniversary.  Can you please recommend your photographers???  Thanks for your help!

Richard Miller did my b-pics and I loved them.

  • Studio by Carmen- she always makes girls looks beautiful

  • I used Studio By Carmen. I know there are a lot of mixed reviews on her, and I had a very mixed experience.

Leading up to the actual shoot was a nightmare- she was not easy or pleasant to deal with.

The shoot ended up being pretty good, although she made a few offhand remarks to me that were really not appropriate, which was probably amplified by the fact that I was hangin out in my undies.

The final product was really good- I liked the poses, I had a good variety to choose from- I was pretty happy.

EXCEPT- I had to spend about 4-5 hours editing them myself. I happen to do that professionally, so it wasn't that bad, but I feel that for the amount I paid, I shouldn't have had to do that on my own. And I'm not talking about being vain and making myself skinner or something- I had to edit out some zits, I had fallen earlier that week and had a scab and some bruising on my elbow and she kept that there, some of the up close shots showed a little too much of my pores/skin imperfections. I know my skin isn't perfect, but nobody wants their sexy pictures to include stuff like that.

If I were to do it over again, I would do more research and find someone else to do it, honestly.

email me at knot.angie at gmail if you want more info.

  • I used Studio by Carmen for my engagement pictures, and thought she did a phenomenal job.  My husband and I had a great experience! We loved our pictures, and her and her husband were really nice.

  • I used Studio By Carmen and had a wonderful experience and loved my pictures!
  • I also didn't have a good experience with Carmen either, although I never actually took my pictures.

Basically, I booked a bpic session during a marathon and then cancelled it for a couple of personal reasons.  I asked her if I found someone to take my place if she would refund my deposit.  She told me I wouldn't be able to find someone so close to the session date (about a month out).  Well, I did find someone.  However, Carmen never responded to that girl's email or my emails about having the girl take my spot.  The girl even called her and she never returned her call.

A couple of months later I saw a girl posting on the knot that she needed one more spot filled for a marathon session.  I contacted Carmen again to see if I could get in on that session and just pay the remaining amount.  She didn't answer me.  By this time, I think I had written her at least 5 emails about the issue between the girl taking my spot and also me filling up this last marathon spot.

Finally, I wrote Carmen one last time asking her to please just answer me, whatever her answer is.  This time she finally did answer, and told me that she had answered me once previously.  I never received another email from her. But, perhaps she was having technical issues like she claimed.  Either way, she told me if I wanted to participate in the session that I would have to pay the desposit again. I have no idea why this was necessary being that she needed someone to fill that last spot anyway.

I find her unprofessional and I think she has poor customer service.  Her tone was a little rude in all the emails.  I have heard this complaint from many other girls.

That being said, I have seen many of her bpics and they are all beautiful. I would personally research someone else though.

  • Devynn with DB images was AMAZING!!!! extremely professional and I am in love love love with my pictures. She also made me feel so comfortable that made it fun.

We did our epics, bridal shower and wedding with her and I can not wait to work with her again.

  • Karen Lisa is another local photog who posts over on the bump. She does bpics and they look great. I have considered going to her.

I also didnt have the best experience with Carmen which ultimately let to me deciding not to take the pictures. I think she is pretty hit or miss. Although, I do think her photos on the blog are very pretty.

Maloman does them but I assume he is pretty pricey- and worth it!

You might want to ask over on the knot. A lot of girls do them as a wedding gift.

He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.

  • I will preface this by saying that Carmen is a dear friend and I absolutely love her so my opinions may be a little biased....

I've never taken the b-pic myself but I've used Carmen for a million other reasons and think she was amazing. I've seen so many of her boudoir albums and they are beautiful. She's really one of the best I've seen.  Her work totally speaks for itself. I can almost guarantee that alot of photogs start doing these boudoir shoots after she became the go to in the industry for them.

I'm not sure what comments the previous poster was referring to but I do know she will have you pose accordingly so you're not in an unflattering position. Also, if for whatever reason you think a photo needs further editing and you send it to her she will fix it for you no problem. My god-daughter's mom has this issue because when Carlee took her 2 year pictures at the park she had bug bites that show up in the picture and she sent them back so Carmen could remove them.

As a + the pictures are done in her home which she has setup specifically for these types of shoots. She's purchased a bunch of different chairs, special bedding, funky sofas, wooden floor etc. Which means no needs to shell out extra money for a hotel. :)

Definitely take your opinions from people who have actually used her. Aside from Angie I've never heard anyone say they had a negative b-pic experience with her.
