i'm brainstorming ideas for my 30th birthday next month. i'm trying to steer away from having a house party (although that is my backup plan.) anyone have suggestions? perhaps a good bar/lounge that can be rented or sections reserved? a fun event for my pals to enjoy? looking for someplace in the city. any ideas are welcome. tia.
Re: 30th Birthday Ideas
What about a pub crawl? Or, I saw a group of people out in the "Portland party bus" recently and they said it was a lot of fun http://www.pdxpartybus.com/index.html
You could look into renting/reserving space at Bridgeport or Uptown Billiards. I'm sure there are lots of other possibilities but that's all that is coming to me right now.
I'm doing DH's at a restaurant that has a private room with a dance floor. Doing a cocktail party so that it's not so expensive. I'm paying for drinks and doing heavy appetizers (instead of dinner) and hiring a a DJ.
Also, doing it on a Friday because the minimum to spend was less than on a Saturday.
You should also look into museums, like an old car museum or something dh is into, some of them are not-for-profit and take donations only.
Good luck.
A few years ago my friend had a birthday party at the Thirsty Lion downtown- they have an outside patio area (not huge but big enough) and they just put signs up for the party so other people couldnt come in. It was free too- everyone paid for their own drinks of course, but the space itself was free to use. It was really fun.
