Im going to blow a gasket....

Yep, this is about my stupid neighbor with his Kittens that have Fleas..

He "appeared" today out of nowhere.  Told our maintenance guy he was going to take the Cats to his moms house.  He's over there cleaning his house up now because our maintenance guy was giving him the third degree about the flea problem.

Well, as I was sitting here doing my check book, what do i see on me.  A FRIGGEN FLEA!!!!!  I dont know when he got in here, be it last night, today or even before that but now they are in my house.  I went to go kill it, but it hopped away and i cant find it.  Im sure if there is one, there is now more then one.  My cat has NEVER had fleas so now im F'd.  She has a flea collar, but is an inside cat.  Has never even been outside (she is 3).  I dont know where to even begin.  Because my neighbor is an @$$ now i have eto come up with all this money to try to clean my house out.  We have all the babies stuff sitting around and who knows if that is going to get tons of them.  GRRRRRR.....    Im crying like a baby because I just cant afford this right now.  And i dont want to bring the fleas into the new house, but from what I am reading online, it is going to be a nightmare to get rid of them.  I called my husband and he is calling our association people now, but I am not sure what good any of this is going to do!!!!

Re: Im going to blow a gasket....

  • That sucks hun, I'm sorry. Frontline is expensive but works like a charm-do a regular deep housecleaning/vacuum-once you frontline the kitty your house will be fine. They can't live without a food source...24 hours and they will be gone. A very similar situation happened to our indoor cats. We spent 80 dollars in flea products and nothing worked except FL. Good luck.
  • Thanks for the tip! I have DH getting some Frontline, a Flea Collar and flea carpet stuff on his way home from work.  For now, just incase I were to go into labor before it is gone, I took all the baby clothes and bagged them in trashbags and he said that if the association wants to bomb the area (which i hope they do) he is going to move the baby stuff (swing / carseat) to his aunts house.  We dont have TONS of baby stuff here luckly, since we are moving right after he is born, but it is just one less thing I wanted to deal with.  On top of it, the boys will all be here this weekend and not at their dads, so i am worried about them being bit...  Grrr...

  • Another tip:

Have your DH buy one extra collar if you have a baggless vacuum.  Cut it into pieces and put it in the container.  That way if you do vacuum up any live ones after the carpet powder, you can kill them inside the canister.

And then definitely rent a steam cleaner to clean the rugs when you are sure they're gone - that residue is nasty.
