Hi again!

Just wanted to pop my head in and say hello!

I haven't posted in a super long time...but hopefully I can make a better Nestie effort.

  • Awesome!  I'm Taylor by the way, nice to (kinda) meet you!  What part of the valley are you in?  Are you going to be able to make the upcoming GTG?

  • Hi Taylor - I'm Jaye.

We just bought a house in Peoria - but used to live in Tempe, and I went to HS up in NE Scottsdale.  So I kind of bounce around.

I haven't check the day for the GTG yet so I don't know.  I'll look into it though :)

  • Oh my, we are on opposite sides of the valley Sad (I'm in Fountain Hills).  We just bought a house too!  We closed 12-30, and we are in the process of renovating.  I checked out your blog by the way - very cute.  I'm majoring in accounting!  Are you a member of ASWA?

  • I'm not a member of ASWA.  I actually have never joined any accounting associations.  Probably very un-academic/professional like of me.

Where are you going to school?  Are you enjoying your acc classes?

  • Do you have your CPA?

I currently attend Scottsdale Community College, and I absolutely love my accounting classes.  I have never been so good at something, its like I found my niche.  And I will be transferring to ASU next spring.

I work for a CPA in Mesa, I am the book keeper and general admin.  Where do you work?  How is tax season treating you so far?

  • No CPA yet.  My husband is in a PhD program right now, so I needed to support us while he works through that.  So I couldn't continue with school once I graduated last May.  I'm still undecided on whether or not I will get the additional credits and take the test.  I might, but it depends where we are in a few years.

I work for a youth behavioral health non-profit as one of their accountants.  I enjoy it a lot.  I get to have my hands in a lot of things in the accounting sense, and others too.  For example, right now I'm programming a database, start to finish.  I definitely don't get bored.

The degree definitely makes tax season super easy.  I usually do our taxes and then help friends/family with theirs too.  This year though I'm branching out and helping some people build budgets.   I guess that's the recession talking.

I seriously loved tax while I was in school though- it was my favourite class. I still do.  Doing our taxes is actually fun for me, I play around with it a lot.

  • Hi Mya!

    Umm W's siggy pics = adorable :)

  • Aww! Thank you! I love him!

I need to take more pics, he smiles all.the.time now!

So do you have a bachelors or associates?  Your job sounds really awesome!  I cannot wait to be certified.  I'm doing some of the easier returns this year, and it is so much fun!  I completely understand why you enjoy doing your personal taxes.  Did you get the first time homebuyer credit this year too?

What is your husband getting a PhD in?  Thats so great that he is able to do that.

Did you look further into the GTG schedule?  There is one this Friday!

  • My degree is a BS.  We did get the homebuyer credit.  Perfect time to buy a home!

My husband's PhD will be in Measurement, Statistics and Methodological Studies.  A mouthful - basically statistics.  We're a numbers family for sure.

I won't be able to make it to either of the March GTGs.  I have a dinner with family friends friday and then the 20th is our anniversary weekend, so I'm sure we'll be doing something special :)  I might be in for April though.

Oh very cool!  We filed as early as possible, and still waiting for the refund. It is so lame that we couldn't EFile.

Your husband sounds like a genius btw.  Ha.  Thats too bad that you won't make it to the GTGs this month!  I was really looking forward to meeting you.
