? for those who use their Ipod in the car

I want to get one of those transmitters so I can listen to my Ipod in the car and I looked at Best Buy but there were at least 3 different units with prices ranging between $30-$80.  Just wondering if anyone here has any recommendations.  TIA!!

Re: ? for those who use their Ipod in the car

  • you are honda owners, right?  so are we...my civic already has an ipod adapter built in, but my dh's pilot does not.  he looked into getting one installed at the dealership. have you looked into that?
  • Hey Allie...I have an '03 Accord and it doesn't have an adapter built in.  I didn't realize they did that as an aftermarket/dealer accessory!  I'll have to check that out so thank you!!

We've decided that since my car is in such good condition with only about 55K miles on it that we're going to keep it for at least another 5-6 years even though in the future it might mean hauling a car seat in a coupe sometimes.

We're planning to get DH a new vehicle next Spring and the front runners are the Pilot Touring edition or a VW Touareg because DH adores the Touareg.

  • I have a white Belkin (think DH bought it on Amazon years ago). I like, it works although it is hard to find a "dead" station when we drive around DC.  He has another one (forget the name) it is better at broadcasting over stations.

I think the difference in prices is due to features like being able to change the radio station (I think some just come with presets) and the strength of the broadcast.

  • If the dealership doesn't work out I have the monster cable and have never had any problems.

This is the one I have.

  • We have a Monster Cable one, like Jen's although it looks a bit different - just a newer model I guess.  DH uses it a lot in his car and it works fine for him.  For whatever reason it does not work the best in my Subaru, it does the job, but we're changing channels a lot to keep a clear signal.

  • Make sure to get one that scans stations for you and presets.  I've been in Jen's car and hers is fantastic!

  • Awesome!  Thank you ladies for the recs!  I want to check with my dealer and if that isn't an option I will go for the monster cable one.
  • hey jen - i know it is an aftermarket accessory for dh's pilot (07).  hopefully they  have it offered for the accords!  my civic (09) came with the mp3 adapter.  it is in the arm rest compartment.  i love it. dh is definitely jealous.

we love love love love our pilot!  now when we were car shopping, the pilot didn't have the touring edition.  what is included in that?  we have the Pilot EX-L.  it has everything we could ask for. love it, seriously.  best purchase we have ever made!!
