Moving to SC

Hello Ladies!

My BF and I will be moving to the Charleston area this month. He's actually already there, I will join him ~26th.  I've lived in Colorado my whole life, so I know it's going to be a huge change for me.  Any insight on neat places to visit or good restaurants would be helpful.  My BF's mother lives in Summerville, and we visited her in December and completely fell in love with Charleston (hence the sudden move!).  She's only lived there about a year, so she's still learning whats around, too.

I don't know if you guys have any GTGs (the CO board does them all.the.time), but I'd love to meet new people once I get down there.  I'm 26, vet tech by training, writer and creative by passion.  I love all kinds of music, art, photography, dance, knitting, etc.  No kids (not sure yet if I ever want any), but 2 cats.  Thanks!

~Kendra

Re: Moving to SC

  • Hi and welcome!

I'm fairly new to SC too, and so far I have really liked it! We live in the Upstate though (near Clemson). I work in Greenville. We haven't made it down to Charleston yet but I hope to soon.

We do have GTGs sometimes but the only ones I've seen on this board have been in the Greenville area. Hopefully one of the Charleston girls can help you out with area suggestions.

This board is a little slow, but has a lot of really nice women. Since I'm new to this area I've really used this board to figure everything out!

  • Welcome to SC!  I live in Greenville, grew up in Aiken, so I've lived in SC since I was 9 months old.  I love it here and never want to move!  Charleston is great!  There are some ladies from Charleston here, but I don't think they've done any GTGs.  But that doesn't mean you can't make it happen!  This board is slow, but there are nice people, so we hope you stick around!

  • I live in Charleston. You are in for a big weather change coming from CO! :)

We just moved here last summer but enjoy it so far. It has it's pros and cons, just like everywhere else.

There are a lot of live music shows in various bars downtown on weekends and plenty of neat stuff to do downtown.

  • We just moved here as well!  Kind of a similar situation in that BF moved here before I did (he received a great opportunity with another company here, so they relocated him before me so he could get started right away).  I've been here since Oct and I came from MI and so far I LOVE IT!!!  We live in the Columbia area (a little further north from you).  It's definitely a change in weather; however, we do have a little snow on the ground right now from last night and a couple of weeks ago, we got 8"!  That is very unusual and from what I've been told, this has been a fairly unusually cold winter.  For the most part, it's averaged around 40 degrees with some days getting into the 50's and 60's.  A couple of weeks ago, we got up to 68, which was really nice and it's supposed to get warm again this weekend and into next week!

I've heard living in the Charleston area is really nice.....hope you enjoy it!

  • Hey Kendra! I moved to Charleston from Fort Collins 4 years ago. I am still not completely used to it! I never lived anywhere but the front range until I moved here. I would be more than happy to get together and show you around or hang out anytime. I am in nursing school here and am 24. Good luck with the move! Jen
