Are you F-ing serious?!
You know, I know that those who volunteer to coach sports teams do it for free, and for the love of the game. But c'mon, some of these coaches are total jerks. These are children for pete's sake! I have heard so many stories of my nephew's hockey coach that I want to punch his lights out!
Two weeks ago, Ash (who LOVES hockey and is consistently one of the leading scorers and play makers on every bloody team he plays on) was told by his idiot coach to "stop a slapshot with his head". WTF?! When Ash responded that he wasn't going to do that, he didn't want to get hurt, the coach gave him the option of either "sacrificing himself for the team" or being benched. Yeh, he chose to be benched. Nice.
Last weekend, Ash had a clean hit on a player on the opposing team. Ash isn't usually a physical player (he plays forward) but this was a good check, totally legit. Thing is, the player he hit was a girl. So, she lays on the ice talking but refusing to get up, they call an ambulance and Ash is just sick. She ended up skating off the ice on her own, but Ash felt just terrible. Anyway, after the game, Ash literally came running out of the dressing room and did not want to talk about it...at all. So we find out from another kid on the team that, while Ash was on the bench fretting about injuring this girl, his coach walked up to him and said, "Don't worry, you probably just broke her neck". WTF?! No wonder Ash was so upset!
Other kids/parents have had run-ins with this coach. They plan to report him to the league. He should obviously not be coaching 13 year olds.
