Having a House Warming... help me be green

We already have paper plates (from 5 years ago, a party DH had before I had even met him), but I hate the idea of using them. But we are anticipating 40ish people and don't have the plates to do it.

What would you suggest?

  • Is composting the paper plates not an option? In my 'crowd' we always use paper plates, but we have city composting so they just go in the yard waste.

You know, I may be able to. I always grew up composing at home, so I forget about paper compost. I'll have to check that.

  • since you already have the paper plates, i'd say use them.   (and look into trying to compost them).

we have an annual christmas party here, (and other random parties/gatherings throughout the year) so last year i bought 5 sets of 12 plain white appetizer plates (which were on clearance at the time!)    i love using them- they are so much classier than disposable and they all fit in the dishwasher at once.  i use them for all my parties, and don't have to buy paper plates again!  you may want to try this for your future parties...... have fun at your housewarming!

Where did you get the dish sets? Just curious? we have a small small kitchen, but lots of other storage.
