State College Spas
We're heading back to Toftrees to celebrate our anniversary this year. I was thinking it would be nice to schedule some spa treatments for us.
Any spa suggestions?

What are you looking for? I've been to Designer's Denn downtown for a massage and it's really nice - it has a nice day-spa atmosphere. It was for a prenatal massage, so I cannot remember the masseuse's name, but she was very good.
I've also been to J. Stephens (near Outback). Michelle is awesome at massages, but it doesn't have the atmosphere of Designer's Denn. Carla who used to do facials there just moved to a new place called Adam Cole, on College Ave near Damon's, and I have no idea what the atmosphere is like there, but Carla is awesome as well.
Friends of my Friend own Adam Cole - I've heard it's beautiful!
If I recall, you had a bad experience w/ Designer's Denn for your wedding right? The owner is a horrible person so I refuse to go there.
On a side note - I noticed on FB that you are friends with Serena - I worked with Serena at Hoss's! I wonder if our paths have ever crossed before?? Small world huh?

Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe we'll try out this Adam Cole place. I know DH will probably get a massage. If they have couples massage then maybe we'll do that but otherwise I'll get a facial. I've been dreaming of having a facial again.
billysgirl, you have a good memory! I swore I'd never give any more of my money to Designers Denn after the experience I had with them. I know it's been 5 years but since it's still the same owner, I don't want to go there.
Wow, it is a small world. So, do you know Michael too? I know they met at Hoss's. Serena and I met at PSU Mont Alto then lived together for a summer in State College. She is one of my dear friends. I just love her and her adorable family. They're such great people.

Oh, no need to apologize. You had no idea. I know DD is popular in that area and expected them to be suggested. I even thought about going back b/c it is a nice atmosphere but I don't want to contribute to the owner.

I went to J. Stephens before my wedding for mani/pedis and it was awesome. They were very friendly, did a great job, etc. I agree though it is not as much of a spa atmosphere if that's what you're looking for (I've never been to DD so I can't compare it to there).
For some reason I have kind of a freakish memory...I probably remembered because I don't like DD either!
I know Mike as well - working at Hoss's was such a fun time. I lost track of Serena & Mike after we all went our separate ways but it's fun to be able to re-connect with them on Facebook!
