Where's everyone at?

I'm sad to see that hardly anyone in Alaska gets on our boards. I'm simi-new to the whole alaska thing. I've been up here for a little over a year. I moved from the east coast...so being 5,500 miles away from everyone I know is a little hard. I can only hope the board gets stronger!

  •  Hopefully more people will start posting here. I check for AK post everytime I log in. I'm from NC, I lived there for 22 years and then moved to AK for my Husband. I understand the homesickness!
  • I am Shaimila and i live in Delta Junction. I moved here a couple of months ago from Georgia. I totally wish the airfares were cheaper but am still going back home for a few weeks in May! Yay!
  • That's the one thing that was really hard for me while living in AK (ok, the dark winters weren't so fun either) - tickets were so expensive and traveling was so time-consuming b/c it took hours just to get to the lower 48. With family in Maryland, we had to set aside two travel days and $700/each just to get here!

But I still miss it! Like crazy!

  • We go really lucky last November when we flew back to NC. We found tickets for $550, and we were flying a few days before Thanksgiving and returning a few days after. When we went down in May the tickets were almost $800 a piece. What really sucks is ajusting to the time different. You need a whole day basically to sleep it off.
