For anyone that was listening to the Edge this morning, here's the article they were talking about:
http://www.star-telegram.com/2010/02/28/2003874/in-these-olympics-canadians-only.html
For everyone else, this "journalist" compares our national pride to the Nazi's in the 1936 Olympics.
Not cool.
I don't understand why this guy thinks that we should be broadcasting other country's medal wins. Does the US post a front page article when Germany wins a gold? wtf?
I almost feel sorry for the interns at his office, because they're going to have one hell of a time sorting through all the e-mails and faxes that come through after Dean Blundel gave out his e-mail address.
Here's his followup article:

It's not much of an apology in my opinion. And terribly written.
Re: For real??
there are lots of crazies out there
we showed other countries winning medals, when they crossed the finish line. We didn't necessarily show them on TV, but that is CTV and obviously they want good ratings so they are going to show whatever they want to when it is "live".
And when you watch the American coverage they don't just show the American athletes? Some times they don't even show the entire event - just the Americans and if the gold, silver, bronze winners.
I think someone is grumpy his country didn't win the hockey game.

And is it our fault that HBC came out with an endless supply of really cute Olympic ware for all shapes, sizes and ages?
Oh and when the Olympics were in Salt Lake, it was a somber event with nary a star or stripe to be found.
Sour apples.
Happy Easter
