Any Hollywood nesties?

Looking to purchase a home in Hollywood Lakes area.  DH & I love the neighborhood, proximity to downtown, beaches, Aventura, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale........but! there seems like there are sooo houses for sale.  Is that a bad sign?

Re: Any Hollywood nesties?

  • There are tons of homes for sale everywhere.  I lived in Hollywood most of my life and the homes in Hollywood Lakes are nice.  There are/were a lot of older people living there so that might explain why more than a usual amount are available.  Also, Hollywood isn't as great as it used to be and I know a lot of people have moved away which might be another reason.

  • I agree with PP!

Hollywood isn't as nice as it used to be and lots of people have moved out of the area.  There are definitely a lot of elderly people as well.

I like Plantation a little better and I think their homes are in a similar price range.

  • Hey Michi!

Eh, Plantation.  We lived there 2008-2009 and it was way too suburban for us.  Too many kids running around and we are so far from that right now.  Not that close to any real downtown.  We are in Miami Beach now and LOVE being out east.

  • Oh I love Miami Beach, and Aventura too!  Plantation is definitely suburbia, but I guess that's what I think of when I think of Hollywood. That's where my DH grew up and where my high school was.

    :)

  • I lived in Hollywood a while back with a roommate who owns a house there...loved the Hollywood Lakes area...DH and I were looking there as well when we were considering buying.  I really like Hollywood in general, and I think that the market is also still recovering, which is why there are so many homes for sale everywhere. :)
