Furniture

So DH and I are going on the hunt for a new dining table set tomorrow. We are looking for an all wood table with 6 chairs- nothing to fancy just simple, clean, modern but not too "cold". I've looked online at the typical places- Rooms To Go, Carls, West Elm, Crate and Barrel, etc.Do you ladies have any suggestions as to other places we should check out? We don't want to pay an arm and leg but are willing to be around the $1000 mark. Let me know if you guys have any hidden furniture gems out there- thanks!!

Re: Furniture

  • We bought almost all of our furniture at Havertys, I dont know your style exactly, but they do have some more modern pieces. Also, have you looked into El Dorado Furniture? They have a huge show room off the sawgrass and have a lot of modern stuff.

  • There is a place on bird and the palmetto called Scan Design or something like that where they sell modern Scandinavian furniture.  I remember the prices being pretty good too.
  • JC Penny's had some really nice dining sets and some decent sale prices.  I would not recommend Ashley Furniture---we had a really bad experience with them.

  • American Signature! They have great stuff there at reasonable prices. We got most of our furniture there.

We got our couch and coffee table there and love them both, they are great quality!

    I also love C&B!

  • I second Scan Design, their stuff is pretty modern though, not sure how modern you are willing to go.

  • Over the weekend, we saw a very nice round table at COSTCO!  I'm not sure if it had 4 or 6 chairs, but it was very nice, darker cherry wood, and a bit modern.  Reminded me a bit of Pottery Barn.  I didn't look at the price, but I can bet that it is less than $600 for the set.

GL shopping.  Other suggestions for locations: American Signatue, Ashely Furniture.

Also, if you find something at a more boutique store that is going to be way too expensive (happened to us), you may want to check out Furniture of America.  It is an online store only (based in Vegas), but no one can beat their prices.  We fell in love w/ a Lexington set from Baer's that was almost $6K... we the SAME EXACT SET for less than $3K and it included $600 shipping and a 7 yr warranty.
