Let the fun begin!

I just bought Elise a potty seat that fits on the toilet (those chairs just gross me out).  We're going to let her slowly get used to it, before hardcore potty training.

Re: Let the fun begin!

  • she is still really young, don't ever try to force it or be "hard core", that will just back fire. does she have a little stool so she can get up on the potty?

    good luck.

  • What a great idea for a smooth transition. Don't forget to remind me of this in 2 years.

  • she already lets us know when she has a dirty diaper, but in no way am I forcing her.  There's no such thing as too young either, it's just whenever each child is ready.  I'm just going to start by letting her sit on it before her night bath and follow her cues as to how to progress.  We're in no rush.

James' grandma made a beautiful little handpainted stool for her to use.

  • Good luck!  She is young but you have to start somewhere and if she can tell you about pooping, it's definitely worth a shot to see what happens.  Better than having a 3 1/2yo still in diapers.  ::coughnephewcough::

I had a little stool with my name on it for the potty too.  =)  I think my mom still has it.

  • I have a stool with my name on it from when I was a child. I still use it to this day. Of course not to get on the potty;)

  • I think she's young for American standards, but not for a lot of places. Also being a SAHM offers you a lot of time for communication. John has a coworker who started potty training at 15 months.

  • Good luck! We are doing pretty well with it. Monday she went 24 hours without using her pullup, but some days she uses the pullup alot. It mostly depends on how busy she is. Who wants to take time out from making random magazine collages to use the potty?

This is a constant struggle with John
