Re: Gas or Electric Lawnmower for smaller yard?

  • Our old househad a lot that was 25' x 120' and we decided that a push mower worked best for us since our grass area was not that big.  It worked really well, though we did have to make sure to mow weekly so the grass wouldn't get too tall.

  • I dont know about an electric lawnmower.  We have an electric leaf blower and an electric weed eater, and neither of them hold a charge long enough to do both the front and back yards.

electric lawn mowers generally are plugged into an outlet & don't use a battery.

I don't know how much of your yard has planting on it, but I would probably go for electric b/c it's lighter than gas.  I would also consider looking at a reel/push mower (which is what we have b/c lots of our yard are planted beds)

  • thanks, DH doesn't want a push mower and he will be doing most of the mowing.  We are also considering a rechargable electric mower but they are more expensive.  We don't have much garden yet, but we will be adding some.

  • We went with gas mostly so there's no danger of mowing over the cord.

  • We have an electric plug-in mower, and it works great for our little lawn.

  • I've had both.  I inherited my aunts electric one who had a very tiny yard to mow. It worked for her, but I hated it.  The cord is a nuisance, but I had a larger yard.

I quickly went to a gas mower.  30 x 100 is worth a gas mower.
