3/4 Your biggest fear

So what is your biggest fear?

DH and I share the same, having a very sick child.

Re: 3/4 Your biggest fear

  • Hmmm, Dh says mine is ghosts bc I am quite scared of them. However, I don't really think that's my biggest fear bc I don't think they are around everywhere or w/e.

I think my biggest fear is what's after death/the unknown. I'm not so much scared of dying but I am scared of what's after and if I will ever even know or if it's nothingness....

Also, I am terrified since every child I come in contact with is drawn to me that my children will hate me.

  • Drowning has been a fear of mine for a long time- or just not being able to breathe and having no control over it.

Also, and I realize this is strange, but Anne Frank and the Holocaust.  It traumatized me when we learned about it in 8th grade and I hate having to teach it.  I just can't get over the horrors of it and it just haunts me in the days, sometimes weeks, after I have to research it and talk about it with the kids.  Last year I had to watch the Diary of Anne Frank 3 times (3 classes) and I about lost it.

  • Of course something happening to DH and DS.   Any of us  Getting into an accident and being incapacitated.

Roller Coasters or Scary rides at at amusement park. Seriously petrify me.  You couldnt pay me a million dollars to get on a roller coaster.

Ghosts too.  Anyone ever see the "ghost" in 3 Men and a Baby?  It's supposed to be an Urban Legend.  But if you watch the movie, there is some point where you see something that looks like a ghost.  I saw it in college (when the story first came out) and let me tell you, I have never watched the movie ever again. Spooked the crap out of me.

  • Burning alive in a fire.

(myself or the dog) Being bit by a snake is a close second- and more realistic since moving down here.  There are a lot of copperheads and rattlers around my complex. And a few cottonmouths last summer were killed as well. *shudder*

I have not seen that. But I do watch ghost hunters....yes I watch a show about something that frightens me... It makes sense to me bc the more I understnad it the less afraid I should be...in theory at least, Anyway, the one where they see a thermal image of a man in the locker they're filming and open it then no one's there freaked me the hell out!

  • This is morbid...

but dying and knowing that I'm dying. My mom died young--she was just 42--and died from a pulmonary embolism, so it was very sudden. I was at peace with it (kind of...) until about a year ago, when I read that when you suffer a pulmonary embolism you have a feel of 'impending doom' (not everyone dies when they have a pulmonary embolism). It is so upsetting when I think that my mom may have known that she was dying or felt that sense of impending doom, and I'm scared I'll go through the same.

(In general, I often think that I'll also have a short lifespan...my mom had 3 other sisters and only one is still alive. I'm healthier than all of them, but I don't really have any expectations of living a long life because of that. I'm okay with that though...it's not the dying that scares me.)
