QUESTION!!!

Good Morning! Smile

So I got a question...I know that you can get preggers even if your on BC...BUT if you are on your cycle, and you take a PG test will the test come out negative cuz you're on your cycle? Or will it come out positive because you're preggers??? I know I sound like I'm 15 right (lol)...i'm not! Embarrassed

TIA and have a wonderful day!!!! (i'm in such a good mood for some reason!)

Re: QUESTION!!!

  • I'm a little confused by your question.  A pregnancy test will come out positive if you are pregnant.
  • the biggest reasons for someone getting PG while on BCP is a) not taking the pill around the same time everyday or b) being on some other meds (antibiotics, some herbal meds, etc) that intefere with BCP.

if you take your pill everyday and aren't taking any other meds that interfere, the likelyhood of you being PG is slim to none.

  • yeah, i just re-read it and i'm like wait...what? It is confusing! Sorry.

  • Cycle as in their period? If you have your period I don't think you can be pregnant however there are plenty of pregnant women who experience bleeding in the begining or through out their pregnancy.

Usually if it's brown a pregnant woman is ok but if it's red and/or clots they they are not ok.

So I assume in most cases if you have red blood with clots and take a pg test it will come out negative but if you have brown and take a test it could still come out positive.

Did I confuse you anymore?  Sorry Embarrassed

nope! thats what i was wondering...i've read that too...in the beginning it was brown, and now its red...geez.

  • actually the thing about red blood not being ok?  not true.  I bled 3 times in my pregnancy w/ my sons.  It was caused by Baby A (Coop) having a low-lying placenta.  There are a lot of reasons why a pregnant woman would bleed during a pregnancy and not all of them mean bad things.  A friend of mine continued to have her period during her entire pregnancy.

That sucks!! One of the great things about being pg is that you don't have to deal with that.

Ditto! I have loved not having a period.. thank you breastfeeding! I haven't had to deal with a period since Nov 08! :)

About the OP, I am so confused. If one is on birth control AND got their period, why would one feel the need to test at all? If you are on birth control and miss your period, I would understand the concern.

And I had red spotting for several weeks in the beginning of my PG and all was well.
