Miami Vacay

Hi Ladies!

DH and I are planning a vacation to Miami this April (our first vacation since our honeymoon 2.5 years ago!!). We are so excited and have found a great place to stay (a few miles north of South Beach). I know there are a few things that we want to do: Seaquarium, shopping, zoo....

There seems to be so much to do down there so I was hoping for a little insight. Any must see things/places to eat/shop?? Thanks!

Re: Miami Vacay

  • There is a ton to do in Miami.  But you will require a car for it all!  Public transportation sucks, and taxies will add up quickly.  Not sure if you will have a rental.

On South Beach, Lincoln Road is a lot of fun... tons of restaurants, shops, clubs, bars, and other activities (movies, bowling) to keep entertained.

Jungle Island near Miami Beach is also very nice (similar to a zoo).  Vizcaya is a museum worth visiting if interested in that.

As for shopping, great malls in Miami include Dadeland, Merrick Park (high-end), Dolphin (outlet), and Sunset Place (smaller, but nice atmophere).

Taverna Opa is a restaurant / club on South Beach and is a lot of fun.  Big Pink also on So Beach is a lot more casual and offers family style servings, with very eclectic choices.  For a more authentic Cuban meal, try Lario's (owned by Gloria Estefan) or Versailles (very traditional restaurant in Miami).

  • I was going to recommend going to Big Pink, its a really yummy laid back place to go have breakfast at anytime of the day!

everything else is great as well! have fun :)
