Kind of kid related question

Since I have been on mat leave, I have been taking DS to playgroup once a week.  This is my third week off, and I have gone on a different day each week.

There are a couple of women who run home daycares who take the kids there every day.  I think this is ridiculous.  As a mother sending my kid to daycare, I expect the DCP to provide stimulation and do activities with my kid, not take them to a playgroup every morning from 9-12.  I am all about them going on outings, but everyday seems kind of excessive.

Any thoughts from others, or am I just a crazy mom?

Re: Kind of kid related question

  • I think once or twice a week would be fine but every day is questionable.
  • I think that is ridiculous. I wonder if the parents know?
  • How many kids?  If the day home has 3 or 4 kids then no big deal.  More, I'm concerned with how the DCP would watch all of them in a bigger group.

Of course, if I pick my kid up and they're happy and not eating junk and watching TV all day I probably wouldn't complain either.

  • I'd have no problem with it, I don't think, as long as my kid was safe (eg, she kept an active eye on them and didn't let them get lost in the group)

  • I find that strange and I would have to agree with you.
  • One or 2 days a week, ok.  every day I would also be a little eh about.  When I was interviewing DCP there were a few who mentioned that they go to the early years centre or the Y once or twice a week.  My current provider actually has the kids in a cooking class through EYC on wednesdays this month.  Since DS only goes part time he's not joining in.

  • Kinda lazy....but since my daycare doesn't do anything with my son, it's better than nothing.
