I've slowly noticed my vision really getting worse lately, but I've been trying to avoid thinking about it. I'm the only person in my family who doesn't have glasses, but I think the gig is up. The other night at the bar I put on my friends distance glasses and oh my gosh it was like seeing a whole other world, everything was so much clearer. I didn't realize just how bad my vision was until then. And recently I've been getting headaches after driving for a while, and I think its due to my eyes.
I am so not looking forward to being almost 23 and finally having to learn to use contacts and wear glasses. It's bumming me out.
Re: Ugh, I need glasses.
What specifically is bumming you out? Glasses/contacts aren't that big of a deal. Like others said, there are some really cute frames out there. Or if you're like me, you can swear by your contacts!
Nothing specifically is bumming me out, just the idea of having to do the whole contact thing everyday, and remembering to take them with me whenever I go places, stupid stuff like that. I'll be fine and get over it and get used to it, I just feel like being whiney.
I have coach frames too and everyone LOVES them.
Melissa I have the same problem to the T except I am 25. I swear I thought you were older. any way it sucks big time. I am still waiting it out though. There is no way I will enjoy learning how to use contact and I can not stand glasses. Do you have focusing problems? I do but only sometimes. my eyes feel like they are coated with thick tears (i guess you could call it that way). I finally got my drivers license last year and took the eye test there and passed but just barley. I probably should just go get them looked at to make sure nothing else is going on.
My eight year old niece wanted glasses in the worst way. She started skipping math problems on her paper because, as she said, she "couldn't see them." My sister, humoring her, took her to the eye doctor to get her eyes checked, and of course they're just fine. So my sister told my niece that if she came home with 20 perfect math papers that she would take her to get some fake glasses from Claire's Accessoreis.
Perfect Paper #20 was last month. She's now rocking out to some serious rainbow frames.
Is it wrong that my eight year old niece has more fashion sense than I do?
Almost 23? You made it twice as long as I did! I got glasses in the 6th grade at the tender age of 11.
My vision was terrible then and it's only gotten worse. At the time, I had no idea my vision was bad. I remember once being at a basketball game in our middle school gym and afterwards my dad asked why I didn't wave at him. I said, "from the other side of the court?! Humans can't see that far!" Hahaha! The day I walked out of the optometrist's office, it was a whole new world. You'll be very glad you got glasses/contacts.
Also, don't worry about remembering them and thinking to bring them with you everywhere... it becomes as natural as brushing your teeth. Would you ever forget to do that?
I probably could wear contacts if I wanted to but I don't. I have dark circles under my eyes that glasses hide way better than any makeup I've ever found. Plus I have a longish face and high forehead and the glasses break it up pretty well.
Welcome to the glasses club! I LOVE my glasses, they are totally a part of me. I feel weird without them, actually.
