Must be the day for kids to go to the ER.

imageWe just got home.

After 17 months, Alex finally had his first trip to the hospital.  And even though he climbs out of his crib, up and down the stairs, off the back of the couch, up and down chairs...in the end, he tripped over his own feet on flat ground and that is what did him in.

imageHe has a lovely 1/4-1/2 inch cut in the dead center of his forehead. It was obvious immediately that we needed to go, it was pretty deep. DH, I think, almost fainted. We ran out of our house so fast I am amazed in retrospect that I had the presence of mind to get one dose of Motrin into him and remember a cuppy and dipes. Did about 90-95 to the hospital with DH sitting in the back with Alex, got in, the bleeding had stopped, and both the boys were feeling better (esp. once they put the anesthetic on his forehead prior to the cleaning and gluing, see pic).

In the end, it was a nice, clean cut that they were able to use dermabond on and the on call said it should heal nicely, although he obviously will have a little scar. He's sleeping quite peacefully now (even slept through putting his pjs on), we just need to keep it clean and dry for 5 days straight.

  • He's such a boy. That's all I can say. I'm in for it with this one, that's for sure.

With all the rain recently, he's discovered puddles in our walkway. Yes, he stomps in EACH one on the way to the car. And yesterday, there was a slug in one of them, which was FASCINATING. DH had to pick him up because he was reaching for it as if he was going to pick it up. (ewwwwwwwwwwww)
