Parks Near Leu Gardens

Hello! I'm viisting from another board and have a question about parks in teh area...

I am in a wedding in May and trying to plan a rehearsal. The wedding is on a Sunday at teh Leu Gardens, and since there is an even that Saturday we can't have the rehearsal there. So I was looking in to Loch Haven Park or Mathews Park (b/c they are the closest to the hotel everyone is staying at) but I can't find any good information on them.

Would you rec either? Does either have a large grassy area with shelters where we could do a rehearsal? IF not.. do you have any other suggestions?

Edit: I should have said this earlier... she wants to go bowling after for the "dinner" part of it... we just need a place that's open so we can go over the ceremony. She suggested a park that would be open and nice... so that's kind of what i'm running with.

Re: Parks Near Leu Gardens

  • I'm not familiar with Matthews park. I've been to Loch Haven once, and from my recollection there did not seem to be a great area for a rehearsal dinner.  Gargi's restaruant isn't far from there and has a nice outdoor patio overlooking lake Ivanhoe.
  • Have you checked into Baldwin Park?
  • I think Blue Jacket Park may be what you're looking for. Here's a link.
  • Loch Haven is on a main road and the way it is layed out isn't particularly private. Matthews park is nice it had a kids park and a some playing fields and you could definatly do it there. I was also thinking that Mead gardens might work for you. It has a outside theater area with benches and a stage that you could use. They actually do weddings there but not as many as Leu gardens because it is not a pretty. Hope that helps some.
  • There's also Langford Park, which isn't too far from Leu Gardens - maybe 2 miles.  There's a huge gazebo area where you could stage a rehearsal.  I had my wedding ceremony there.
