Soccer Party Ideas please...
Hi! My DH's 13 year old neice is in a state championship soccer tournament that happens to be in our town. (They live OTT).
Whole family is coming over after game... please share any soccer themed ideas that you might have for a casual party. Am thinking of BBQ or Make-Ahead Dish... and that's about as far as I've gotten.
"Wild Cat" Team colors are red with black and white accents. Want to do something special - yet inexpensive.
TIA
Re: Soccer Party Ideas please...
I had a sports-themed party for my SD last year. We rented a pavillion at a local park (only about $25, and we lived in an apartment at the time, no room for a group of kids!) We asked everyone to wear sports gear (jerseys, sports-tees, etc...)
We had a cookout, but thought like a stand at a game...hot dogs, nachos, chops, Cracker Jacks, etc....and cupcakes with little sports-themed flags in them. I used her sports equipment as decorations, as well as some latex and mylar balloons.
For activities, we had a water-balloon tossing contest, volleying contest (SD is into volleyball), cookie decorating (I baked and frosted sugar cookies, gave kids food-coloring pens and sports-themed candies) and let them play on the playscape at the park.
I know ours was not focused on soccer, but you could make some of it work. Good luck!
At the soccer banquet in Dec. at my H's university where he works as an athletic trainer, they did this cool centerpiece! A small "patch" of grass in a box w/ a small soccer ball in the middle & flower picks that held 2 sided photos of the team. Just thought I'd throw that out there!
I like your idea of a BBQ - maybe do simple salads like a green veggie one, a pasta salad...
Have fun!
I played in high school and a friend had a cake pan that was round. (I think it was actually two bowl pans that you stacked on top of each other to make a ball.) We used to make it and then decorate it like a soccer ball using frosting.
Also, I know the local party supply store always had napkins, plates, and paper centerpieces that involved soccer balls. Not sure how much time you have, but I'm sure you can find a ton of stuff like that online as well if you don't have a party store in your area.
The team colors, made me think of soccer balls with red heart stickers on the white parts. I feel this makes it a little girly for her. Maybe you can buy inexpensive toy/blow-up soccer balls and red heart stickers and hang these at the party.
Have a cake that says "Jane
's Soccer"
HTH!
