A group of my girlfriends and I get together every month for a "girls day field trip" kind of thing. So far, we've:
~Toured & Tasted at a vineyard
~Toured & Tasted at a brewery
~Gone to the movies
~Painted Pottery
~Held a stamping party to create notecards
We really try to find fun, different things to do! I'm responsible for planning the next few, and I need some ideas! I'm thinking of a cooking lesson, but I'm not sure where to find info on those. I would LOVE any suggestions that you could provide!!
TIA!!

Re: Ideas for Girls' Day
I'm not sure if this would be something you're interested in, but recently my girlfriends and I had a "clothes swap." Everyone brought over a few gently used pieces from their closet, shoe rack, or jewelry box that they haven't worn in a while. We laid them all out (or you could use a clothes rack), and everyone tried on each other's pieces, we had a fashion show, and each person took what they liked! The rest is going to the thrift store.
We had cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, chatted for a while and had a good time. Nobody wanted to leave, even when my husband came back and broke up the girl time!
Last month. a popular local florist shop held a how-to-arrange flowers class. A few of my friends and I went - it was fabulous!
GL planning your girls night.
You could do jewelry making. A lot of local bead stores also offer lessons or help designing and making your own jewelry. I went to school in NC and I know there was a store in Carrboro (which is right next to Chapel Hill). We did it a few times in college and I've seen those kinds of stores in other cities too.
Or what about an exhibit at a museum or the zoo? In Cleveland, we have the Botanical Gardens which always has fun exhibits to go to. Maybe there is something similar near you.
Sounds like fun! Now I'm thinking maybe I can get a group of girls to something like that too!
This may be on the liberal side, but I did this with my friends and it was really funny...
We got together at someone's house for a girls night. We thought that the night was just apps and drinks and spending time with one another. (For you, you can say that you're doing something else if you'd like). An hour or so into the night a doorbell rang and it was a "policeman" saying that someone was parked illegally, but really he was a stripper. We were all really taken by surprise and wound up having a night full of laughs.
Along those lines there's always the infamous "sex toy party". Like a tupperware party, but with very different items! ;-)
i didnt read the other posts, because its my bedtime and i just wanted to chime in
Earth Day is next month. my girls and i will be having an Earth Day themed Game day. we got socks with recycle and i love Earth stuff on them for favors. we will use cloth napkins and real plates etc to be green. we are sending Evites instead of regular invitations to save paper
to decorate i want to print out little known environmentally friendly tips and info and hang them around the house.
depended on weather, we might do this outside and use the tips as placemats on a picnic table.
you can also get together and volunteer with some earth day events already happening in your area, planting trees, cleaning up highways, etc..
