When my husband and I were dating we bought a full bedroom set from basseett with a queen bed (in 2003). Over time he wishes we would have purchased a king. Now we need a new mattress. So do we make the switch now to a king? They do not carry our bedroom set anymore but we think we can find something to coordinate. I am just having issues with the cost--I hate wasting things and money!
Cost of queen mattress: 2700k no additional costs
Cost of king mattress: 3200, 1-2 for a new bed, 300-500 for new bedding
The mattress lasts 20 years. So do we make the switch?? Thanks!!!

1. I say do whatever to help you sleep better.
2. You can buy a great king mattress for about 1200.
3. Never expect a mattress to last more than 10 years. Even the best mattress doesn't last more than 10 years. Even mattresses lasted 20 years, there would not be the number of mattress stores that there are.
4. Try to sell your queen at a garage sale, you would be amazed at what people will buy.
5. Depends on where you bought it but if you bought it at an independent retailer, not a large box store, they might upgrade you and trade in your smaller mattress.
6. On that note, try shopping independent retailers, not big box stores. Their overhead is far lower, therefore their prices are a lot lower.
The main issue is I LOVE my current queen bed frame. It is beautiful. I don't want to move it to a guest room and then it looks like we moved it--if that makes sense. My thought is since the bed and mirror have the same archs I can switch the mirror out as well. Money really isn't the issue other than I feel weird about buying something new when the one I have is great. We wil probably go lay on queens and kings today again! Thanks!
