stove top cleanser.  Just wondering what you Ladies use to clean your stove top.  We have a gas range and I have trouble getting the grates that cover the burners to come clean.  Any suggestions???

Re: Recommend your...

  • Oh I want to see what everyone else says, we also have a gas range and I currently have a Clorox brand cleanser that sucks, it leaves this greasy-ish film on the top unless I sit there for like an hour and wipe it off.  And we've also tried just plain old hand washing the grates by hand, doesn't work.
  • Bar Keepers Friend.

Seriously, some of the best stuff ever.  I use it on pots/pans that have grease that won't come off no matter what else I do.  It's recommended by a lot of cookware companies, but it's multipurpose.  We have a gas range, and I tried about 7 different cleansers on it to no avail.  BKF took care of it in a snap!  It also does a great job with the grates..I just soak for a bit and sponge off.  Takes all the grease and crap with it.  I've also used it with great success on my bathtub when nothing else would get the dirt out of the bottom.  I buy it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond...it's inexpensive, especially when using a coupon.

  • Wait, Bar Keepers Friend comes in a liquid?  I still get it in the abrasive powder!!!  I'm going out to see if our BB&B has liquid!!!  I use that on EVERYTHING!  We have hard water here so our glasses and silverware get buildup from the dishwasher . . . BKF makes them look like new again.

I have a black gas stove and I use Lysol.  Its a decent degreaser and doesn't leave the streaky residue behind that other cleaners do.  I also put the top pieces (the burner covers, etc) through the dishwasher and pre spray them with lysol as well.  Works like a charm!

I'm seriously going to obsess over the liquid BKF today now . . . I just called my mom to tell her about it!

LOL!  I get excited about these things, too!

Yup, I was excited when I saw the liquid BKF at BBB.  It works really well.  It's my go-to when I can't clean something around the house.

  • I will have to try the BKF.  It just sucks cause the closest BBB is 30 minutes away but if it works that well it sounds like it's worth it.

Katie - I never though about the dishwasher.  That's a great idea!!

You can probably find it elsewhere... there's a locator on the website:
