What do you use to replace clorax?

There is nothing like bleach to clean white surfaces.  Any suggestions for a bath tub?

Re: What do you use to replace clorax?

  • Well I've never cleaned with bleach so... I don't know. Actually the idea is really weird to me! Don't you choke on the fumes? Do you wear gloves? I just clean with Dr. Bronner's and vinegar. My tub is still white.

I second the dr B's and vinegar.  Also, if you need to scrub something, baking soda works wonders

  • I was never one for using bleach either.  To scrub my tub and sinks, I mix up a paste of baking soda and Dr. Bronner's and use some elbow grease.

  • Bleach is totally gross to me. I hate the smell, the damage it does to skin and clothes, etc. plus it doesn't kill mold on porous surfaces. So, for me--it was easy to give up! I use recipes from the amazing book Green Clean. I put my favorite bathroom/mold-buster one in this post (under the pic of the spray bottles).

  • I scrub with Bon Ami. The grit can do a better job than Clorox Clean Up.
  • Are you talking about an abrasive product clorox makes?  Or just plain old bleach?  Peroxide or vinegar can be used as effectively to disinfect bathroom surfaces (i think i saw someone posted a link to cleaning solution recipes up above).  I use a green scrubber pad and sometimes vinegar and/or baking soda if necessary and it works better than bleach would, because it is slightly abrasive.

  • I make Dr. Bronner's and Borax into a paste and scrub. Our tub is super white.
  • Click on my blog below and click on "Green Living." I have a bunch of different recipes to make your own cleaning supplies.
