Rec your favorite winery

We're doing our annual winery bus trip on october and looking for a change of pace.  We've been to Crown Valley in St Gen and Mount Pleasant in Augusta.

Does anyone have a rec of another winery that will accept a bus load of people?  We probably don't want to go to Hermann because its so much further.

Re: Rec your favorite winery

  • We like Balducci's.  It's on 94 just past Augusta.  They accept buses and have a huge lawn with a ton of seating.  The wine is OK - not the best, but good.  But the best part is they let you bring food and drink still (just no booze) and they sell AMAZING deep dish (and regular) pizza.  They also have covered seating if the weather is bad.

  • I'll second Balducci...definitely my favorite winery and I know they allow buses. The wine is like the pp said...not the best, but not bad at all. The prices are ok, they have good food, and there is some really good people watching to be had there! :)
  • Sugar Creek Winery, I don't know if they allow buses though.http://www.sugarcreekwines.com/

  • We normally going to Montelle Winery.  I really like their wines and they have a huge deck for seating.  I'm not sure about the buses, however, i've seen them there before!  I haven't been to the wineries in so long!!!  it sounds like a lot of fun!

Last time i went they wouldn't let us bring our picnic basket w/food in.  that kind of ticked us off, but it sounds like a lot of the wineries are doing that.  we just bought something in their deli and kept refilling it from the picnic basket.. LOL.

    Have fun!

  • The St. Gen wineries are great (Cave, Crown, Chaumette). They all allow buses.
  • We've been to Mount Pleasant, and I love going there. Sugar Creek is nice too.
  • I'll put in another vote for Balducci's.  They have local bands playing a lot of Saturdays, and you can dance or crash on a blanket and picnic.
  • I recommend Montelle in augusta as well. they know there stuff and have an amazing veiw!
