I shop a lot on Amazon

.. in part I think sometimes it is more eco-friendly if I'm not trekking around town to find stuff.  And I often order natural foods/stuff in bulk, which reduces the number of trips out.

The UPS truck comes through our neighborhood every day anyway, so I feel like it definitely saves gas and unecessary driving.

Does anyone else do this?  I mean it is of course convenient for me (I have 2 small kids) but it also is better for the environment, IMO.

Re: I shop a lot on Amazon

  • I do!

My Amazon wishlist is one of my "always open" tabs on my Mac; I add stuff to it all the time and order probably once a month.

I do, too. The prices are pretty good with the free shipping and part of me loathes shopping at regular stores. I get as much as I can online and minimize my IRL shopping.
  • i do this too.  and i agree with you, UPS is in my condo complex everyday, whether i order anything or not, so it's better than my (could be many) individual trips to the store.

  • I order from Amazon at least once a month also.  Being that I have the Amazon.com credit card I get 3% back on purchases I make through the site.

When I shop in regular stores I never find what I want and at least spend a couple hours driving around to find something that I "kind of" like.  So, I resort to just shopping online.

  • I do it too.

My husband and I carpool into town 5 days a week for work (we live 25 miles from town) so I rarely have the opportunity to really SHOP in a store anymore. He's patient, but really no husband wants to sit through the comparison of six different this-or-thats.

I'm sure it's greener than driving all over the place, and it's way easier to find things even if you know which store 'should' have it. Just type, click, and there it is on your doorstep. I'm with you!

  • Well yes, you drive around less, but you're also putting 0 dollars in your local economy. So you should take your bike around to all those stores instead. Big Smile

  • Amazon has a shipping facility just outside of Reno...does that count for me? ;-)
  • I do because I get about $50 in Amazon Gift Cards every month through SBs and online surveys and whatnot.  I just like picking up stuff and having it be "free".  :)
