I thank you so very much for taking time and using kindness in helping my dog & I this afternoon. It was very terrifying to get the call that my dog had gotten out of the yard, gotten 1/2 a mile away, and been clipped by a car, but you were so nice and calm in taking responsibility for her until I could get there. I know I was a wreck when I showed up on the scene and could barely speak. If I had a million dollars in my pocket, I would've given it to you. I wish I had thought to get your name so I could send you something. You have no idea how much 20 minutes of your time and your kindness to both of us meant to me.
Thank you. ~Nota

Re: XP: Dear Anonymous Stranger:
That's awesome! I used to work at a vet's office, and we had people bring in lost dogs all the time to make sure they were ok. Once we found the owners, it was so rewarding to see what a difference a complete stranger can make in someone's day (and a difference whether a pet survives or not).
My biggest fear is that one of my cats will get out and get hit, and I'll never know what happened....
But yay for you! I'm so glad that it was a happy ending
This!
Thank goodness for good samaritans and I'm glad your pup is OK!
I think most pet owners are pretty compassionate about things like that as long as the animal looks well taken care of when it's found. I know we've picked up a few dogs and even kept one overnight to give the owner a full 24 hours to make contact with us.
This was seriously one of the strangest pet-owning days I've ever had.
My dogs were out in the yard (which is not uncommon as it's fenced in) - I'd checked on them about 15 minutes before I got the call that this wonderful person had my GS mix and would keep her company until I could get there. I run down to get the keys to the dog's car (H has my car for the day), and find my kitchen door standing wide open with my lab coming back inside bleeding on his back leg. He's not critical or even looking concerned, so I go ahead to get the GS knowing I'll be home again in less than 10 min.
I call H who gets to the GS location at the same time I'm pulling out and comes back to the house with me to check out the lab. (The lab has white fur so any blood on him at all looks like he's being murdered.)
Both dogs are fine now. I checked range of motion and did a pat-down on GS's hip (where she got clipped at a slow speed). H cleaned up a small gash on the lab that doesn't need stitches. Me - I'm still a bit of a wreck but I'm calming down.

I'm so glad that they are both okay and that there are such nice people out there. The one time Koda got away from me and was running around the parking lot of our apartment building (off a major road way) I was a complete mess. Luckily the neighbor downstairs heard me frantically yelling her name and came out to help. Yep he bent down and said "Koda come here" in a nice loving voice and she went right to him without hesitation, the stinker! He has no idea how much he helped me that day. I was shaking and in tears and that was just after about 10 minutes of her running around. I took her inside and hugged her so tight, she thought I was nuts. I'm so glad that everyone's okay. I think a glass of wine is in order for you tonight.
