Runners-Hamstring Pain?

I think I may have over did it a bit on my run last Saturday.  My hamstring is still pretty sore.  Have you had this injury before?  Any advice for getting it back to feeling good?  How long did you need to take off running?

Re: Runners-Hamstring Pain?

  • Stretch it a lot and go for an EASY jog. The movement will help it loosen back up. Ice baths also help, but they suck.
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • Depends on how bad it is. Sometimes you just need to stay off of it for a while. When I hurt mine doing the SA half I had to stay off of it for 6 weeks and even then it was tight. A slow jog was not an option for me.

I would try stretching it and walking for a while and then start on a slow jog and see how that goes.

    Good luck.

  • I recommend ART from chiro.  I would get it treated by a pro.  I overlooked nagging pains and ended up with stress fracture right before my last marathon.  Not fun.  I go to Advanced Rehab and see Dr. Z.
