how do I fix my browser?

Our computer will not connect to the internet.  After many phone calls to Verizon (our internet provider) they seem to think it is our brower.  Everything else on our computer works fine.  We can pull up our photos, we can go on Microsoft Word, play games, etc.  We just can't connect to any online website.  When we try to a white page comes ups that says "Page can not be found"
Before I have someone look at our computer, is there any way I can check/fix our browser?

Re: how do I fix my browser?

  • I think it's weird/crappy that they won't help you get your connection going considering they are being paid by y'all for a service. How frustrating!

Have you had the internet connection before on that computer?

  • have you tried downloading another broswer like firefox or google chrome? if those won't work either i would think it's a connection issue and not a browser issue.

have any of your antivirus or firewall softwares been updated recently? this sounds similar to a problem that i had when a program updated.

I thought of recommending to DL another browser, but how can the OP navigate to Google/Firefox if she can't browse anywhere?

  • Do you have a laptop?  If so, can you take it somewhere like a Starbucks or somewhere with wireless internet access and see if you have problems there?  If you can access the internet elsewhere, that shows it is something in your internet connection or wireless connection at home, as opposed to your browser.

if it was me, i would dl the program at work and save it to a flash drive.

  • The worst part about this board is that people rarely come back and follow up.  I hate not knowing the end of a mystery!
