Veggie Garden Question

Hi everyone! MH and I are looking to start a veggie garden in our yard this year but we don't really have an idea of how to go about it. Can you suggest any vegetables that would be good for beginners? The space where we will put it has sun for most of the day. Thanks!

  • I've had good experiences with green beans and spinach.

  • Okay so here's another question. Where did you buy your seeds from? Or were they already potted plants? Do you think going to Lowes and getting them there would be fine?
  • You can go to Lowes or HD or any local nurseries as they all sell transplants and seeds.  You may look up your zone so you know what would grow best in your area.

A lot of vegetables need 8 plus hours of full sun so try to figure out how much sun that spot gets and plan accordingly.

zucchini is very easy to grow, produces a lot, and can be started from seeds no problem. I?ve also had good luck with bell peppers, but I?ve always bought them as plants. I planted Swiss Chard (bright lights) from seed and had a fabulous crop without having any work to speak of, too.

  • I cut my teeth on zucchini and peas

now just about anything is game...I prefer a local nursery to the chains but have had success with seed and plants from chains...I usually start from plant but have made a vow to try seeding next year

    good luck and have fun
