Clicky Poll: Rookie Q re: when to start spring gardening, etc.

I have a lot of gardening, landscaping, etc that I want to accomplish this year. I'm ready to get going, but am not sure if it's too soon.

This Feb/Mar have been uncharacteristically cold in my area. But my daffodils & hyacinths are already trying to poke up, even though we still have snow piles in the yard and are still getting hard frosts almost every night.

I know some things I could go ahead & start (putting barriers down, etc), but others (planting bulbs & flowers, lawn treatments, etc) I'm just not sure about.

WDY recommend?[Poll]

  • I voted other.

Find out your USDA growing zone and use that for a guide for when to get started. I'm in northeast PA, and according to my growing zone, the risk of frost isn't over until Mother's Day, so that's when I start going whole hog.
