Hey, fellow albinos, what makeup do you use?

I really only need a fairly light foundation - I don't like anything heavy, but I have the hardest time finding makeup that isn't too dark. I mean, I buy the lightest shade, dilute a makeup sponge and put it on so it goes on super super light, and I still have to spend 20 minutes blending around my jawline/hairline. And sometimes you can still see a difference.

I'm slightly paranoid about it. I hate makeup lines.

So, if you're uber white like I am, where do you get your makeup? (I'm hoping I can get some recs that aren't like $30 a bottle!)

Re: Hey, fellow albinos, what makeup do you use?

  • I don't wear that much, only wear foundation (light) if I am going out somewhere.

I generally get MAC blush, concealer and eye-liner.

And as for the foundation I literally just bought a new one but I forget what it is...its some sort of mousse thing?

  • MAC has a shade light enough that I use now...

Before them I used to use the color 'alabaster' from Clinique

  • Revlon Colorstay foundation in Ivory, the lightest one they carry.

  • More often than not, I find myself wearing a tinted moisturizer now, but I think that's because my skin is doing some weird thing where it's all of a sudden getting drier as I get older.  Fun!  ;)

I use Smashbox Tinted Moisturizer in fair.

  • Revlon works fine for me and I'm super pale. I use the lightest shade of colorstay. It sounds like it will be heavy, but apply with a damp sponge and it will last all day AND be lightly blended.

Also, I think it comes in a few different colors based on skin type: oily, combo, dry...

  • I wear MAC studiofix powder foundation in NW15 (their lightest shade).  Then I use the Benefit Georgia superlight bronzer.  I can't even really call it a bronzer because it's not dark enough.  But it lightens my face up a little.  And lately I've been using a Boots No. 7 blush from Target.  If my skin looks a little dry from using all those powder things, I spray it with the mist stuff from MAC and it sets pretty nicely.

  • Okay, so several MAC recs. I'll have to check it out.

Hopefully my butthole doesn't pucker when I see the price?

  • I think the one I use is about $28.  Before that though I was using a Chanel liquid foundation (until they stopped making it), so this seems cheap by comparison.  That one would have made all of your orifices pucker.

  • Lancome Teint Idole Ultra in Ivorie 2.

    aka see-thru

  • I had to try some cheapo revlon PhotoReady liquid that I saw at Target because it came with a brush! I had never used a brush for liquid foundation before, so I got all excited! it was 10 bucks! plus the BRUSH! plus it was super pale-I got Vanilla.

I really like it. it is light coverage, perfectly light, and it comes with a brush. for 10 bucks.

    fun! try it.

  • I use Bare Minerals and find that it blends great with my skin. I always have issues with liquid foundation not settling on my skin because of the combination oily/dry skin that I have. The Bare Minerals comes in lots of shades for us snow children and you can move a shade up in the spring/summer when you get a little color to your skin.

Is it the new roll-on one? I saw a commercial for that and kind of pulled a face, like wtf? But I'll admit, I was kind of curious...

  • I don't use foundation, but I use Tarte stain for blush.  Stains are the BEST blushers.

  • no- it is not the roll on or the eraser one..it is a brush brush. the roll on one looks like it is for people with terrible complexions..like it shoudl also include a putty knife!

  • I LOVE Revlon Photostay in their lightest color (forget the name), and I blot a Clinique pressed powder over it.  I think it's the Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder.  It's one of their lighter-finish powders.

ETA: The Revlon stuff is like, around $11.  I use a sponge to put it on.  One squirt is more than enough.

  • I also recommend Clinique. I think they have a kind called Barely There or something like that. I used that once before, and it matched my fair skin wonderfully.
  • L'oreal colormatch (?) in the lightest shade, I think it's Ivory.

  • I had the same problem. I am sooo pale the lightest shade of foundation is too dark, so I switched to Bare Minerals. I absolutely love it.

  • Hey, I have albinism too and have tried every foundation out there. I have a blog post on the different foundations and concealers that work for albino skin if you are interested. You can find it at theblindsider.wordpress.com
  • I usually only put foundation down the center of my face to neutralize pigmentation and recently followed celebrity make up artist Lisa Eldridge's advice found in one of her tutorials, specifically for pale skin foundation solutions, and invested in a bottle of Armani's Luminous Silk foundation #2, which I find very good. In the same tutorial she suggests mixing the not-quite-right foundations that we might have still hanging around with a a few drops of Mac's white base, to get them to just the right shade and avoid letting them go to waste. Guess it's worth a try!
  • Dainty Doll and Lily Lolo do extremely light shades.

There are also a load of brands that do pure white foundations that you can mix with colours of your choice.
  • Another vote for Bare Minerals. I also use Garnier BB Cream in Fair.

  • Love the subject title ! Believe it or not I found a powder foundation at VS that I typically use(very white do to my irish heritage), I wear make-up on occasion, I like to keep things low key and simple, it runs around $15 I think
  • Foundation: Urban Decay Surreal Skin. It goes on like a cream but dries like a powder. I tried it out a year ago and got hooked.

Under eye concealer: Bare Minerals "Well Rested"

Both are really light on your skin. I have dry skin. Also wouldn't recommend Mary Kay for an everyday makeup as it's really heavy on the skin (if you do buy MK check out ebay.... a lot of x-consultants sell their product there).
