I've got a black thumb but I'm hoping to get some ideas for landscaping along a fence for privacy. Any photos you'd like to share for inspiration?
If you have specific plants/shrubs/trees etc that work well for this purpose, I'd love it if you could share. We might do some arborvitaes, but I'd like to see some other options. I live in SE Michigan. The ground is mostly clay and the fence is at the lowest point (there is a drain in the neighbors yard). We just moved in so not entirely sure what drainage will be like.
Mostly just hoping to get some ideas of where to go! Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Landscaping for privacy
How much sun does the area get? I'm assuming it's at least part shade if it will be along the fence.
How well does the soil drain? A lot of shade plants like moist soil but they need good drainage. With a clay soil you'll probably have to amend the area by adding things like sand along with fertilizer.
I would wait a year before doing any major landscaping with a new house so you can see how the sun hits, what the previous owners did, etc.
Arbrovitae are fast growers and are good for privacy. River birch likes very wet soil so they'd do well and provide good privacy 3 seasons of the year.
