I need some ideas for fun and fresh games for a family friend's bridal shower that my sisters, mom, and myself are throwing in just a couple of months!
We're trying to get things in order, and realized that most of our ideas seem really outdated and over-used.
Anybody have a unique idea for a game or activity? I really want her to have a blast!
Re: Bridal Shower - Games?
Honestly, I would see if she even wants games. They're not my thing, and I know that a lot of other people feel the same way. I doubt that she's going to feel bored.
No games + Double the Cocktails = A great shower!
I know a lot of people don't like games ... but I do (and the cocktails, too)!! If you do decide to do games here are a few...You could do a list of celebrities and their baby's name and they have to match the parent to the child. Does your friend already have a name picked out for the baby? If so, you could put the name of the baby (first, middle, last) on a sheet of paper and give people 10 minutes (or however long) to try and make as many words out of the name as they can. Another idea that is not a game is to set a timer while the guest of honor is opening her gifts. When the timer goes off the person whose gift she is opening at the time gets a prize. You could do this a few different times for the durationof the gift opening. Makes it fun for everyone! Good luck!
My girls threw a great shower, with a few different games:
~How well do you know your hubby? They asked him about 15 questions without me knowing. At the shower, they set a random timer, and when it went off, I had to answer a question about him. If I got the question right, I got a prize (flip flops in my wedding colors, "veil" to wear for Bachelorette party, bottle of wine, etc....) and if it was wrong, I got a gift for him! (Coupons for "get out of jail free", his favorite candy, etc...) It was fun, and everyone enjoyed seeing if I REALLY knew him! Questions included easy stuff like favorite colors and foods, and more difficult ones like first boss' name, first car, etc.....
~Name that Love Song: Girls found a CD (I'm sure you could use iTunes) of love songs from the years we were born (80 and 81). Played clips of the songs and had guests write down titles. WInner received a gift basket.
~Bridal Scattegories: Just like the real game, but they wrote our names down, and drew the letter from our names. (It was HYSTERICAL when we pulled our last initial, Q!!) Winner received a basket.
The games were fun, and kept everyone engaged!
GL!!
Umm...I apologize...I thought it said baby shower
So if in the future you need games for a baby shower....there you go! haha And Aubs13 - great ideas!!!!
Have fun!
Lurker with a few suggestions!
I hosted a bridal shower today, and we had three games planned. They were a huge hit with the brides friends and family.
Steal the Ring
I designed post-card sized cards with five words in the back (FIs name, Aww!, Cute, Bride and Honeymoon). I attached a faux engagement ring to the card with ribbon. If you overheard someone saying one of the words, you got to steal their ring. The person at the end of the shower with the most rings won a prize. Someone today collected 11 rings!
How well do you know the bride?
We had the bride walk around with a tray full of 10 random items (comb, lotion, magnet, pen, etc). Then she left the room, and we passed out game cards. The guests had 3 minutes to fill out ten questions... about what the bride was wearing, not the items on the tray!
this, my cousin's was a baking pan with different cooking gadgets and things on it. instead of preprinted questions, they had everyone number the paper with the # of items there was, then, when she was out of the room, we said the memory game was to test your memory on what she was wearing, my aunt asked the questions, 1-20 i think and then she came back in and they went thru the answers instead.
i went to a baby shower where the guests had to pass a binky around using pencils in their mouths, would work with a big toy ring.
another shower i went to had the brides name down the side and we had to come up with a poem using the letters of her name. she kept them all in a keepsake.
I think 2+ hours of watching a bride open her gifts is enough... I would avoid games unless it is going to be a very small group (like ~12).
@ mine we did scandalous scatergories... same as basic game only you use "scandalous themed categories with letters.
like for the catergory fake stripper name using letter "S" = Sexy Sara
so on so forth.
or everyone puts a name of a famous hottie and throw it in a bowl.
then you pull them out and everyone votes who they think put it.
