It's Official!

Our business is OPEN! The site is up and running - www.theoldworldcafe.com

It still has some modificaitons being done (like allowing the buyer to choose their regions with a gift basket) and will be complete by Monday, but it's functioning as needed at the moment.

If you're interested, we also have a blog http://oldworldcafe.blogspot.com/  and a facbook group with updates on what's going on if you become a fan, http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Spartanburg/Old-Wwworld-Cafe/256158975602?ref=ts

I really appreciate all your girls' support through opening this. It's be a long, bumpy ride and it's finally here. I couldn't be happier, and I look forward to going home every day and working for our business.

Re: It's Official!

  • That is terrific! Congratulations on your opening!!!  That is a huge accomplishment!

  • VERY COOL!!!!! I love the little bits of steampunk in there!

Just a few things I noticed (being a graphic designers wife, I see a ton of websites)

Its realllly hard to see the name of your company on your home page, I like the dark red you are using, but having the name in black makes it hard to really see.

also the big white coffee cups are realllllly big. and the font is reallly small. Somaybe see if who ever is doing it for you can tweak a few things, you want the customer to really be able to read and see everything :)

I am super excited for you guys! Thats so cool! DH and I love coffee!!!

    Thanks so much!

I mentioned to Dh about it being hard to read too, but he loves the red. I'll tell him someone else mentioned it too, so maybe he'll listen. As for the coffee cup, it's being repalced. We are putting a picture of our new roaster there. That's part of the notes we sent to the web designer that will be fixed by Monday. Actually, most of front page is supposed to be updated.

I apprecaite the notes, if you see anything else, let me know. There are things still being edited, but it doesn't hurt to have it reiterated.

  • Congrats girl!!

    All that coffee sounds amazing!

  • Congrats on the opening!

Blonde moment confession.....I read "choose their religions" rather than "choose their regions" and was trying to figure out what type of coffee gift baskets when with each religion! Yep it is going to be scarey when I start having senior moments mixed in with my blonde moments.

  • Congrats on your work!
  • Awesome, congrats!

I have to agree with agent on the website - your logo is so hard to see! It could be ON the coffee mug? Or maybe it's more of a lighter colored (like antiqued paper) header with the links below it. Ok here's my designer critique: LOVE the background pattern and color palette, what if the brown area was thinner to showcase it- your site doesn't HAVE to be the classic width. Ooh ooh and a texture on the brown could play into the old world feel, kinda like stucco or even ground coffee with distressed edges like the logo! The giant coffee beans at the bottom are leaning towards looking like poo - I'd stick to smaller ones if not omit them all together. Or if you do the brown with a coffee ground texture, it could change to coffee beans at the bottom instead of the transition in the red pattern. Maybe your link buttons are coffee beans instead of generic red? And maybe the world graphic in your logo could be a little more orange to match the text. Do you have an actual shop or do you just sell online? I think that could be clarified somewhere as well. Ok, your web designer officially hates me Stick out tongue
