Silly WR question

yup, this is what keeps me up at night...

When did you eat at the reception? ie: we're having stations rather than a served dinner, so I'm wondering if it would be best that we start it off, then we can finish first and go table to table while guests are eating. Or, would that be rude and as the hostesses, we should let our guests eat first??

Re: Silly WR question

  • You eat first!  Really, people expect it.  and I'm sure you'll be hungry.  My reception dinner was the first time I ate in 3 days!
  • we ate first as well.  It is the same as at a dinner party, the host must take a bite before the guests do. We didn't have a head table or a sweet heart table and were seated with my parents, in laws and grand inlaws.  We actually had a woman who was in charge of us who fixed us a plate and then made us eat!  Then we got up and mingled with at the rest of the tables.

  • You definitely eat first. Your caterer may offer to make you a plate to make life easier :-)

  • thanks ladies :) one less thing to worry about Stick out tongue

  • We went through the line first and got a plate - but I don't think we ate more than 2-3 bites of it before people were coming over to us to talk, etc - and then we got up to mingle.  Definitely ask the caters to fix you a plate for later.  That plate of leftover food was delicious and much needed!Smile

  • The wedding couple is always first.  One of the staff at our wedding started to tell another table to go first and I put a stop to that right away.  I paid for the food, I didn't eat all morning, I'm hungry and damn it, I'm eatting! ;-)

  • yup, we ate first too. we had a friend who was pretty much acting as out day-of coordinator and he actually brought us both plates. honestly, there was so much going on that if we hadn't had him watching out for us i don't know that i would have thought to eat at all. Embarrassed
  • eat first. we did. and please make sure to sit, and eat it. Just relax, and enjoy everything. It goes by faster than you will ever be able to remember.

  • I ate a tiny plate later in the evening.  Danielle didn't eat at all.  Our caterer packed a giant plate of the leftover food for us to take back to the hotel.  It was cold, but good.
