My DH and I are currently vacationing in Orlando and we while we're out here we'd like to look at some new construction housing. We've been contemplating moving to FL for FOREVER. Can anyone recommend builders to check out? We've checked out KB and didn't care for them. Also Meritage which we LOVED. We're looking in Clermont but what other areas should we consider? TIA!!!
Re: Help a NJ Nestie out!
I can't tell you WHERE to look, but I can tell you to avoid Maronda Homes. They hire too many subcontractors and they don't have much quality control over them. I've found so many problems since buying my house in 2000 (new construction).
New Jersey!!! I just moved from NJ (Cherry Hill) 2 months ago! My DH and I moved to Clermont - the Verde Ridge subdivision right off of old highway 50. I highly recommend Pulte and Hibiscus builders, but we weren't very happy with Adams (all three builders are in the development). We also looked at KB Homes in the Southern Fields development - their houses were nice, but you're basically starting with a house "shell" and have to add $100,000+ to make the house "your own" with upgrades. We liked the location of Verde Ridge better, too.
If you'd like, send me a PM and I can try to help you out with any other info you may need in your move from NJ to Florida. What part of NJ are you from?
Good Luck!!!!

Before deciding on an area to live I suggest finding out where you would be working first - unless you don't care if you have a long commute.
I agree about Poinciana. I live in St. Cloud but used to teach near there and the traffic was awful.
