Philly Nestie visiting Chicago

Hi ladies!  My DH and I will be in Chicago next week for a few days without our DS.

We are so excited to visit your fabulous city. We are going to the Phillies-Cubs game on Friday afternoon and have some tourist-y things planned for the other days.

We need a few good rec's for dinner and some fun bars at night.  We are staying at the James and would prefer to walk or take short cab rides.  I am 35 and DH is 38 so we are looking for places with an older crowd, but still fun and laid back.

Thanks!

  • check out my bio for my restaurant recs.   let me know if you have any questions about them!

as for fun bars, we just tried a new place that we thought was pretty cool.   at the Affina Hotel, they have a new bar on the 29th floor called C-View.   its an open air bar with GREAT views of the city.   tasty drinks, too.    I don't necessarily recommend going to the restaurant for dinner (C-House.. its ok.) but the restaurant does have fantastic desserts.    and if you haven't been to the Signature Lounge at the Hancock for drinks, that's a must.

Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

  • If you like wine bars / champagne, check out "Pops for Champagne" downtown (champagne bar), or "Cru" winebar on Rush St.  Both also have small plates.
  • Thanks so much for the recs, we are SO lookign forward to this trip!

  • Here's a link to restaurants I've reviewed (its still an incomplete list since I don't have enough time to write about all the places I've eaten).

You can also check out this link to my blog where I've hosted ethnic food tours and restaurants I've visited.

  • I saw a place that looked really fun on Check Please (a local restaurant review show). It's called 200 East on 200 E. Chestnut. They have live music too.
