Chicago Theater - What to wear?

I've been to fancier shows at the Chicago Theater where dressing up was a good idea... but if I'm going to go see stand up comedy, do you think jeans are appropriate?

Re: Chicago Theater - What to wear?

  • Just my opinion, I haven't been there in a few years and when I went it was to see a musical, so it was a little more of a dressier occasion in my eyes, but if you'd feel self conscious if you did happen to be under dressed, then you might opt for a dressier look.  I honestly don't think you'd be under dressed to wear nice jeans with heels and a slightly fancier than usual top.

  • I second the vote for a nicer pair of jeans and a nice top.  I've been to the Chicago Theater a few times over the past couple years and business casual or "smart casual" (like nice jeans/top) seem to be the norm.
  • I went to a comedy show in January.  It was my first time there so I have nothing to compare it to, but there were a lot of people in jeans.
  • I was there a couple years ago to see Lisa Lampenelli and we wore jeans.  A lot of people were dressed very casual.
  • I would suggest dressy casual. Nice jeans, a cute top, and heals or dressy flats. =]
