Soo I might have accidentally melted my crock pot to the stove

Like so much a whole leg is missing, you can see the inner insulation and it sits crooked... so I'm wondering do I have to pitch the whole thing or can I still reuse the inner removable pot part? can it go in the oven? It appears to be stone ware of some sort with a glass lid.

Re: Soo I might have accidentally melted my crock pot to the stove

  • I'm not sure about the stoneware but the glass lid couldn't go in the oven - it'd shatter in two shakes of a lamb's tail.

  • I literally just made a face like this: Indifferent.  Yikes!

My first thought was that if you could find the same outer portion at a yard sale, you could use your insert in that...but then again the odds of someone selling an incomplete crockpot are probably pretty slim, and I don't know if I would trust an appliance that I leave on for hours unattended if I coudn't establish a "chain of custody."

You might be able to use it in the oven, but I wouldn't use the lid, like PP said.

(This isn't very EF, but I would probably just toss the whole thing.)

  • Hmm... if I can't cook in it, maybe I can make it some sort of flower pot or something? lol. I suppose it's pretty unlikely I could drill drainage holes in it either though.

OK ladies get creative - I need an ef use for my pot.

That was mine too. We moved in Dec. The house came with an electric stove that I'm still adjusting to. I was using the broiler in the oven, which (I now know) makes the back 2 burners VERY hot. What's funny is it didn't even smell or anything so I didn't even notice it had happened until I went to move the crockpot out of the way so I could put the food on the stove. One could think a melting CP would stink to high heaven.

A masonry bit might go through it.  That would be a cute option.

i don't know how to help you with the crockpot, but i just wanted to let you know that when you use the oven, the back burners will get hot also.  they're like vents for the oven and broiler.

  • Don't throw out the crockpot.  Where we live small kitchen electrics can be recycled with other e-waste, but not along with our regular recycling.  We have to drop it off.
  • I would put the ceramic pot portion on freecycle. I've shattered my pot (dropped it on the floor) and my lid on two separate occassions. If I could have found a replacement, I wouldn't have had to buy new ones.
