Few things can crush my self-esteem like trying on bathing suits. It certainly doesn't help that I'm 25 pounds up from my pre-preg weight. I need the suit for a community centre class I signed Andrew up for ? but after today I feel like I'd rather cancel the class than wear a bathing suit in public. I mean, what was I thinking? Ugh.

The good thing about mommy/baby swim class is that almost all the mommies are in the same boat with how they feel about their bodies. Go! Nobody will judge you.

Ack - I'm bathing suit shopping too.  We start in two weeks.  I one disastrous shopping trip at 5 weeks PP - NOT a good idea AT ALL

I am still pregnant so at this point I won't go near a bathing suit. It probably doesn't help that DH makes whale noises at me...I can't blame him there so we both laugh it off haha. But I admit I am completely scared of having to purchase a swim suit for the summer. LO is set to arrive in under 5 weeks so Im hoping come june I will have shed a bit of prego weight. Don't worry too much though, mommy and me swim classes should be full of women all in the same boat. I completely understand the initial fear though!! As my mom would say, "It' not a fashion show", lol. I bet alot of the other moms in the class are in the same boat. There are alot of bathing suits you can buy that have alot of coverage, if that would make you more comfortable. Try not to let it get you down.

Sigh. I know, but I am closing in on one year post-baby, and the scale has been moving in the wrong direction in recent months, which is making me sooo unhappy and yet I haven't been doing anything about it.

Anyway. I think I'll go back to Sears tomorrow and try again. (They're 30% off today and tomorrow, so I really want to get one.) I was focusing on one-piece suits today, looking for modesty, but maybe I need to try a two-piece tankini. Maybe with boy shorts. 

What do you guys think of the skirtini? Too frumpy/grandma-ish or what? Like this one (but not this pattern).

I think the skirtini is nice and a lot more popular than ever..  I just came back from San Francisco and Las Vegas and I saw a lot of those at the beach/pool

My first after baby bathing suit shop was horrible.  My boobs were everywhere but where they were supposed to and I couldn't find anything to cover my belly properly.  I finally gave up and paid more for a suit that I now love instead of a cheap walmart suit.

In case anyone is interested... I got one. I don't really love it, but it doesn't make me want to cry. It's this one, in black. Like you, Kriz, I ended up having to pay more than I'm used to, but it's worth it for my self-esteem.

I have to find one too... my guess is that all the mom's are in the same boat so it won't really matters.

Plus the babes will all be so adorable in their swim suits that really, who's going to be paying attention to us!

I think bathing suit shopping is depressing for all ladies - PG or not PG. I despise it. I'm glad you found one, and don't despair...like a pp said, nobody will judge you.

Jean shopping is another thing I HATE shopping for. Finding jeans that don't fall down your ass when you sit down because they are so low rise and thighs can't fit into because a size 10 these days feels like a size 4 is not fun!!
