Big News...Kinda

I decided to start my own business...kinda. A friend of mine has been selling Mary Kay for a couple of months and has finally convinced me that I should become an independent consultant as well. Now my nerves are totally back and forth. The main goal is add some additional income but the taxes terrify me. I am really excited for my starter kit to arrive and according to the website I should have it on Monday and my debut party is on March 27th. DH has to work that weekend and it is my birthday weekend so I decided to throw my own little party.

  • Good for you!  I know a lot of people who do Mary Kay, and I personally love the line.

Do they give each of the consultants micro-websites these days? I'd order from ya!

  • We do get websites mine just isn't set up just yet. I'm working on setting up a separate business email account and bank account. Once those steps are done I'll finish activating my website and get the business cards ordered.

Your offer to order from me is very kind. I will let you know once everything is activated.

  • AWESOME and good for you for going for it! I've been told lots of time I should do event planning, but I would rather not.

Taxes are scary! just over estimate how much you should save and you should be fine. My DH does has a side job and doesn't pay taxes till we file its not too bad.

  • Please let us know when your site is up and running! I don't have a Mary Kay lady here and I'd love to order some product.

The taxes can be a little scary. My mom sells Avon on the side and my parents just put aside extra cash in savings each month. You can also have your regular job take additional taxes out to cover part of your side business. I don't know exactly how my parents figured everything out, but I'd be happy to ask them for some pointers if you'd like.

  • Congrats!  That's exciting. :)
