Re: How was your weekend?
This weekend was good. I can't recall Friday night but I'm pretty sure K went to grab a beer after work and I snuggled on the couch quite content. Saturday....ahhh...now I remember....K woke up 'in a mood' so I cleaned the house a bit and then met Abba916 for coffee and girl talk (aka - help picking baby name). Yesterday I went for a pregnancy massage - heaven! - and then worked in the nursery. I got the PnP organized, moved around some clothes, pumped up my labor ball, and then attemtped to install the car seat in my truck. It's in, but no where near level. I need to work on that a bit and get an appointment to have it inspected.
Overall it was an easy, relaxing weekend.
Mrs._F - how was move day????
I CAN GET TO THE BOARD! hooray! I'm not sure how long it'll last, but i'll take it!
we had an okay weekend. my wife's dad had surgery the week before and went home at the end of last week, so we took the baby and headed up to spend time with them.
we also spent a good part of saturday evening at her bff's house. her son has MD and has been very ill, so we wanted to go and just spend some time with them all.
we had breakfast with her parents sunday morning and then headed home pretty early--we had a lunch date with some friends, which was a lot of fun.
Saturday we had a lazy morning (it was so nice to get up and not have to start cleaning the house or be anywhere at a given time) and then took the kids to the gym while we worked out and then ate at the gym. Went to Costco and home for a marathon nap (woke them after 2.5 hrs!) L went to do some reading for her dissertation. Our friend came over and babysat while L and I went on a date to a nice restaurant. We are not foodies at all (and L doesn't drink wine - actually she rarely drinks at all - and I know NOTHING about wine) so the experience was lost a bit on us. But it was nice to go and have a meal sans kids. We got to our reservation early and they were able to seat us and they moved us pretty quickly, so we were done by 8:45 with nothing to do. We were stuffed, it was raining, and we were tired so went home to find all three kids wide awake and running amok. Finally got our kids to bed at 10 and crashed.
Sunday we had a playdate and lunch with one of the dads from our Rainbow Families group. He has a 3.5y daughter and the boys had a great time playing with her and it was nice getting to know him and his boyfriend. We all took a nap and then L was going to take the kids to run errands while I stayed home in a quiet house and work on the consignment stuff. But Gray bailed and opted to stay home so he played games on my computer while I worked out on Wii Fit. The prolonged daylight messed with our heads and at 7:15pm, we realized we needed to feed the kids and get them ready for bed!
This morning it was so hard to get out of bed - between the darkness and the rain - even the kids didn't want to get up.
Rain rain go away...
We were supposed to march in the SPD parade on Saturday, but it got rained out. We went to lunch with the family at a local Irish pub with live music and a piper so that was fun. Then Saturday night we went to a party for one of my ER nurses that got promoted and is leaving the department.
Sunday we ran errands. It was quite the adventure due to road closures everywhere for flooding. One of the roads we take runs along a small stream. All the houses on that side of the road were underwater. We saw one guy out in his yard unloading his flooded pickup in to a rowboat. It is a little unreal around these parts.
Pray that the rain stops soon, they are talking about the dam at the lake that feeds into the lake we live by possibly completly failing. It is already spilling over... our lake rose by several feet the last 2 days. If it breaks it will flood the lake and the outlet river. If that happens I could be stranded.

Friday night: relaxed at home and went to bed really early.
Saturday: Spent the entire day and evening visiting with our friends and their two kids. DW and I seriously enjoyed the baby time!
Sunday: Gardening, grocery shopping and a trip to Home Depot.
This was our first weekend home with the twins. We arrived home late afternoon Saturday. We have yet to buy a van so the two kiddos were in their car seats alone in the back of C's father's car (I was driving and C was in the passenger seat). C and I were emotional wrecks on the way home because we could not see our little ones from the front seat.
Though still tiny, I think it was hard for the tykes to adjust to the "real world." We ended up holding each one in our arms most of night, this seemed to be the only way to soothe them. Sunday was a little better for them, they began to eat more and had pooped out all the meconium. Our Pastor was kind enough to bring us Communion...I bawled like a baby; it was our first Communion as a family. Sunday night C's Mom helped to clean the house; earlier she went shopping for things like a diaper pail, laundry basket, ceiling fan, and clothes. Though wanting C and I to get settled into a routine (though I miss my Mom terribly), C's Mom has been an awesome help.
Yesterday night brought 2 hour-cycled feeds (meaning less than two hours because we have 2 feeds), but at least we all had a little nap after the visit to the pediatrician today.
(FYI: Two*True it took me almost 5 hours to write this post...
)
Oh my! With just one LO arriving for me I suppose it should only take me 2.5 hours to write my first post-birth post.
I think of your family often and I'm thrilled to hear everything is going well and the babies are adjusting to home life.
We survived the move...barely! LOL
I can't say that I recommend moving when it is POURING, you are 8 mos. pregnant, and your spouse has a nasty head cold. Not a fun time. Thank goodness my dad came to help.
Poor C is still so sick. She started to feel iffy on Weds/Thurs, and just got worse each day. We still had packing to finish on Friday and Saturday, so when she really should have been resting, she did not get to. The move took longer than anticipated due to the relentless pouring rain - all of our furniture had to be wrapped in utility blankets to protect it from the rain, which added a lot of extra time. The movers were great though. They worked hard and did a great job getting us in as quickly and smoothly as possible. We were their second move of the day, so they didn't get started until 2:30. They finally left at about 8:00 pm. My dad put together our bed for us and we crashed.
The last two days C has felt super duper sick. She's home from work today continuing to recover.
But - WE ARE IN. We got everything out in one shot, so no need to go back and forth to the apartment to pick things up or anything. The move was rough, but at least now it's just a memory!!! LOL We got our tv/phone/internet installed yesterday, and are slowly but surely getting unpacked and settled. The good news is - we love our new house and are so happy to be there

Congratulations on the move, Mrs. F!
We had an amazing weekend on the Oregon coast. We left straight from C's work Friday evening, had a lovely dinner in Olympia on the way and go in just before 11pm. Saturday we spent a leisurely morning in and then headed out to explore the little towns and the state park. Sunday we went to a huge cheese factory and then an small aquarium before changing and having a lovely, romantic, double birthday dinner overlooking the beach and Haystack Rock. We made it a long weekend so on Monday we checked out and went to lunch and then back to the state park and beach before heading home. It was an great weekend of great food, exploration and reconnection.
We also booked our tickets to OKC for the end of the month to spend some time with C's family.
