Justice Dept. lauches 7 state investigation into Monsanto

Re: Justice Dept. lauches 7 state investigation into Monsanto

  • Well that's good news, but the damage is already done.  Even if the Justice Dept. wins, Monsanto just pays a bunch of money.  The article doesn't say Monsanto would get split up into smaller companies or dismantled completely.  They own the vast majority of the seed market from swallowing up smaller seed companies, that can't be undone.  And every time I read the percentage of corn and soybeans that are GMO it gets higher:

Monsanto rose to dominance via its genetically engineered Roundup Ready seed line, which was in 93 percent of the soybeans and 82 percent of the corn produced in the U.S. last year. The gene Monsanto adds to the seeds allows crops to withstand use of its Roundup weed killer.

  • Good, just watched Food, Inc. over the weekend and Monsanto disgusts me and so does the goverment for being in bed with them. I think all the farms Monsanto has destroyed should get their money back! Like the other poster said, it might be too late for some though :-( But let's try to turn this country and the farming industry around, finally!
